We Break Out Old Concrete and Haul It Away

Concrete removal means breaking old concrete apart and hauling the pieces off your property. We cover the Central Valley, Sacramento, Santa Cruz and the Bay Area, and Peninsula and South Bay jobs are a regular part of the week.

Our concrete work covers flatwork and small concrete structures. Driveways, garage slabs, patios, walkways, footings and low walls all fit here. We have run as a family company since 1967, under CSLB #247684 and CAL OSHA #507. A full house teardown is a different job, and our whole-house demolition service takes that on.

What We Handle

  • Driveway removal and concrete haul off
  • Garage and shop slab removal
  • Patio and walkway concrete breaking
  • Foundation and footing removal after teardowns
  • Curb and commercial slab removal

What We Break Out and Haul

Most calls start with a driveway that has cracked apart or lifted. We also pull garage slabs, back patios, walkways and old porch pads. Foundations and footings come out after a house or shop is torn down. The same list covers concrete removal in Modesto and the rest of Stanislaus County.

Thickness changes the work more than square footage does. A home driveway is usually about four inches thick over a rock base. Warehouse floors and loading dock pads run thicker and carry rebar in a grid. We cut that steel free as the slab breaks up, so the pieces load clean.

How a Concrete Demolition Job Runs

Saw cutting comes first on most jobs. A walk behind saw scores a line where the old concrete meets what stays. That keeps the breaking from cracking a sidewalk or slab you want to keep. Deeper cuts do the same job on thick commercial floors.

Breaking runs with a hydraulic hammer on the excavator, or by hand where the machine will not fit. Handheld jackhammers take the tight patios and the slabs inside a building. Broken pieces load into trucks and go to a recycling yard near the job. The yard crushes that concrete into base rock, which goes back under roads and driveways.

Concrete Removal as Part of a Bigger Job

Concrete removal often follows a teardown. After a house or shop comes down, the foundation and the flatwork are still sitting there. We break those out and haul them off with the rest of the debris. On a grown over lot, the brush comes out first under our land and site clearing service.

Some jobs run the other way. Old concrete comes out before a new driveway or slab gets poured in its place. Roots lift a slab, or a corner drops and the edge breaks apart. We take those calls in the Valley, and concrete demolition in San Jose runs the same way.

What concrete do you break out and remove?
Driveways, garage slabs, patios, walkways and porch pads make up most of it. We also take out foundations, footings, curbs and low concrete walls. Commercial work runs to warehouse floors and loading dock pads.
Do you haul the concrete away, and where does it go?
Yes, the concrete leaves with us. Trucks take it to a recycling yard, where it is crushed into base rock. California building code says most demolition jobs must keep at least 65 percent of debris out of the landfill. Recycled concrete counts toward that.
Can you remove part of a driveway and leave the rest?
Yes. A walk behind saw scores a straight line where the removal stops. Breaking happens on one side of that cut, so the concrete you keep stays whole. The line also gives a new pour a clean edge to meet.
Do you remove concrete with rebar in it?
Yes. Thicker slabs, footings, shop floors and dock pads usually have rebar or wire mesh inside. We cut the steel free as the concrete breaks up. The rebar leaves with the load and gets recycled as scrap metal.
Where do you do concrete removal?
We cover the Central Valley from Modesto to Stockton, and Sacramento and Santa Cruz are in range. Bay Area work takes in San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, Fremont, Santa Clara and the Peninsula.
